The Rental Rights license from Microsoft permits organizations, as part of their businesses, to rent, lease, or loan PCs with licensed, qualifying versions of Windows desktop operating systems and/or Microsoft Office to third parties. Examples of these organizations include Internet cafés, hotels and airport kiosks, business service centers, and office equipment leasing companies. Rental Rights modify the use rights of the underlying Windows or Microsoft Office licenses to allow renting or leasing of the software, which is generally prohibited under the standard license terms for those products. Rental Rights are user rights only and do not replace the underlying Windows or Microsoft Office product licenses. Rental Rights are permitted under the Agreement for Leasing or Renting certain Microsoft Software Products. Qualifying applications and limitations are listed below.
